Decide whether a rebuild is needed, define its scope and protect useful URLs during launch.
When a redesign is justified
- Mobile LCP above 3.0s or CLS above 0.1.
- Organic impressions stagnate while competitors publish service pages and FAQs.
- Scroll heatmaps show users never reach your primary call to action.
- Editors are afraid to update pages because the layout breaks.
- No event tracking for calls, WhatsApp, or form submissions.
- Migrations were done with no redirect map; you lost rankings.
If three or more apply, plan a scoped redesign. If you want help pressure-testing scope, book a 20-minute discovery.
Your 60-minute baseline audit
Before you talk pixels, gather a quick baseline so decisions are anchored to data:
- Speed snapshot: Run mobile and desktop Web Vitals on two core templates (home + a key service page). Note LCP, INP, CLS.
- Content inventory: List service silos, one sentence per page that states search intent served (e.g., “aircon servicing Singapore price”).
- Conversion map: What is the primary CTA per page? Where is it visible without scrolling?
- Event sanity check: Confirm GA4 events for calls, WhatsApp, form submit. If missing, log it as a must-fix.
- Top competitor skim: Two ranking competitors—how many service pages, how fast, what proof modules?
Decision rule: redesign scope should be the smallest set of changes that fixes what the audit exposes, not a wishlist of nice ideas.
Scoping the work that actually moves numbers
Four levers do the heavy lifting. Align scope to these and you will see results.
1) Information Architecture & Content
Group services into silos, write original copy with an offer, proof, and objection handling. Build FAQ blocks per page that map to real questions. Internal links guide users from general to specific.
2) Conversion UX
Sticky contact on mobile, visible pricing anchors, and social proof close the gap between interest and enquiry. One obvious next step per page.
3) Technical SEO
Clean URL slugs, logical breadcrumbs, schema for services and FAQs, canonical rules, and a redirect map to preserve equity.
4) Analytics & Accountability
Define a tracking plan before the build. Events for calls, WhatsApp, forms, and scroll depth. Baseline report at launch and a 30-day review.
This is the backbone of our Reputifly Web Development process and it is why we can quote against outcomes, not templates.
Speed & Core Web Vitals
- Set a speed budget: LCP < 2.5s on mobile for key templates.
- Use modern image formats with fixed dimensions to avoid layout shift.
- Load only scripts used on the current template; defer everything non-critical.
- Audit third-party widgets; remove those that do not pay their weight in leads.
Conversion architecture that earns enquiries
Design is guided movement toward action. These patterns work across clinics, legal, home services, and B2B:
| Pattern | What it does | Where to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Sticky mobile contact bar | Reduces friction to call/WhatsApp | All service pages |
| Pricing anchors | Sets expectations, qualifies leads | Pricing and high-intent pages |
| Proof modules | Builds trust with reviews, logos, results | Homepage, service pages |
| Contextual CTAs | Pairs CTA with an answer to a doubt | After FAQs and feature lists |
Every page needs one primary CTA above the fold. Secondary actions are allowed only if they support the main decision.
SEO that survives a redesign
Migrations fail when structure changes without a redirect plan. Keep authority intact with a simple regimen:
- Export current URLs that rank or have links.
- Map each to the closest new destination; avoid many-to-one where possible.
- Launch with XML sitemap, updated robots, and Search Console verification.
- Monitor coverage, 404s, and query shifts for the first 30 days.
We include this as standard in our build process because losing traffic on launch day is preventable.
Cost vs payoff: a simple ROI model
Judge the redesign like any investment. Use this one-liner to sanity-check the budget:
Evaluate payback without promising it
Build cautious, central and optimistic scenarios using contribution per customer, acquisition cost and actual sales capacity. Label assumptions and include ongoing costs. A redesign cannot guarantee additional enquiries or a payback date.
